Long Way Round

January 30th, 2005 Jesper Bram 5 Comments »

I just bought the Long Way Round DVD. If you have no idea what I’m talking about it’s the TV series where Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman rides around the world on two BMW R 1150 GS. It’s an amazing journey those guys are taking, and it’s was equally entertaining to watch. I don’t know [...] Continue reading

There are a lot of different opinions on the V-Rod design and until I rode it the first time I didn’t think much of it either. But when you first sit on the bike it’s like putting on a glove handmade just for you. Everything’s where it should be, forward controls, handlebars, clocks, it all [...] Continue reading

Take two wheels, an armchair, a huge Japanese V2 engine and a chimney, and you got yourself one bad power cruiser. At least Yamaha seems to think so, and so does Hollywood. If you watch the movie Torque the “bad” guy has one, and it’s so fast he can almost catch up with a jet [...] Continue reading

Motorcycle tryout: Yamaha FZ6 Fazer.

January 25th, 2005 Jesper Bram 17 Comments »

With the FZ6 Fazer, Yamaha have successfully created a smooth running and very functional motorbike. Almost as good as a Honda, if you want my “objective” opinion. Actually the bike runs so smooth and effortless that it almost becomes boring. It’s a super nice bike, but the fairing was a bit to “granddad” for me. [...] Continue reading

Motorcycle tryout: Aprilia SL 1000 Falco. Should you ever have the chance of riding one of those Italian V2 sports bikes, don’t deny your self the thrill. The Aprilia Falco is no exception, although not as “sport” as the Ducatis or the RSV Mille, but with plenty of pull to give you that “I’m naughty” [...] Continue reading

I couldn’t say no when I had the opportunity to try a touring contraption like this, with wind shield, floorboards, chrome rivets and the whole shebang. Unfortunately it where still fitted with the standard exhausts, so the legendary “potato-potato” where drowned by the metallic tinkling of the Twin Cam engine. Now I understand why that’s [...] Continue reading

Motorcycle tryout: Suzuki SV650N K4

An awesome bike, no wonder it’s so popular. I think the riding position is a little odd though. It’s like the shape of the tank prevents your thighs from getting a firm grip on the bike, which makes you slide forward when braking or down shifting. But the V2 engine is definitely a keeper. Put [...] Continue reading

Motorcycle tryout: Yamaha XT660 X

January 18th, 2005 Jesper Bram 12 Comments »

This was a huge surprise. Definitely one of the most fun bikes I’ve ever tried. It’s got a nice sound, good torque and a remarkable riding position. After trying this bike, I have to get me one of them supermotards. Probably not going to be the XT660, the price is a bit steep for a [...] Continue reading

I simply had to try it. It's a nice little bike and simple to ride; full throttle-shift-full throttle-shift-full throttle... Continue reading

Motorcycle tryout: Buell XB12R

January 18th, 2005 Jesper Bram 12 Comments »

After last years tryout of the Buell XB9R, which sort of disappointed me, I where looking forward to try the 1200cc version (XB12R). It was way better than the 9... Continue reading
