We like to show off our motorcycles don’t we? So I thought it might be fun to let you motorcycle nuts show off your bikes here at Helmet Hair. You have to tell us a bit about your bike; just a picture won’t cut it. Knowing when you bought the bike, why you choose that specific motorcycle and what you’ve done to it, is half the fun. ZXR 1100 in flames First off is James Kroeter a.k.a. Gymi who paints flames on everything he can get his hands on. Here is his Kawasaki ZXR1100 Eddie Lawson Replica and what Gymi has to say about it. “I bought this bike September of last year after riding a Honda Shadow Spirit for the last four. I really didn’t know what I was going to buy at the time. Several bikes interested me, The Honda 919, Yamaha FZ 1, BMW R1150R, and Kawasaki Nomad. I was drawn to the ZXR for the ELR look. Being an Eddie Lawson fan, I have always wanted an ELR or S1. This bike came available at the right time and the price was right so I snapped it up. It is comfortable, fast and has good brakes and handling. I love it so far. I use it daily for commuting and running around town. I will also be doing a fair amount of sport touring on it. So far the only things I have done to her is put a two inch higher bar on to give me more upright riding position for those long hauls. I have also bought a set of soft luggage for her. Besides braided lines, that’s about all the modification I plan on doing. She is about perfect for me the way she sits. That’s about it. I look forward to seeing a few readers’ rides here at Helmet Hair. Thanks Jesper.”

Personally, if I were you and I liked and ELR-S1, I would have bought an ELR replica and bought the S1 swing arm instead of purchasing a ZXR.

I own a 1984 GPZ-1100 with a j model engine in it and I have put a front and rear ZX9r suspension on it. I have also bored the engine out to 1300mm. Personally, I am old school but I like the newer technology just to make the bike handle a little better.

Over all I would say that you did a very impressive job. And thanks for the look.

Nicest flames I’ve seen (no qualifiers). I dropped my bars two inches for the long hauls. ;) Just finished an 8,000 mile trip in October 07 on my naked rex. Drop me a line if you make it to the SF bay area. I’d love to see her in person.

I’ll have to post pictures when I finish my 11. :)

Love the ZRX, and am very disappointed they’ve been discontinued. There’s nothing like it on the market now. You either get a LaZBoy cruiser or a chiropractic inducing sportbike.
